Violet's Foreign Intrigue

Set in the Caribbean during the 1880’s, Martha Finley’s novel Violet’s Foreign Intrigue is the story of one young family’s adventures as they defeat modern-day pirates.

Vi Raymond and her family are headed for a volcanic island in the Caribbean so that Professor Mark Raymond and his archaeological team can excavate an ancient city.   They get to stay in the governor’s guest house, meet people with mysterious backgrounds and secrets, and learn a lot about the island’s pirate history.

Trouble comes from every side against the explorers.  On one of the expeditions to the excavation site, a crew member becomes very sick, and they have to return to the village.  Later, the professor gets kidnapped by a group of smugglers.

Finally, Vi comes face to face with the enemy.  She is trapped in a room and seems to have no way to flee from the pirate without him threatening to hurt her loved ones.  But because she trusts in God, He provides an escape through an unexpected source.

This story is about how one family can make a difference just by trusting in the Lord.  Each entertaining chapter leaves you hungering for the next to find out how the Raymond’s will react to each situation with faith and courage and ultimately solve the mystery on the island.
